[:en]Taormina, date of the next stop of the Mix Contest Italy Tour, was the scene of the eighth edition of the Mediterranean Inspiration, the international mixology competition promoted by Gin Mare, the premium distillate of Spanish origin. The Plage Resort in Taormina saw seven bartenders and barladies competing who, after a careful selection, competed to win the competition which crowned - and we say this with a certain pride - Carlotta Linzalata of Piano 35 Lounge Bar as Italian champion, guaranteeing her access to the international finals. The competition involved the creation of two signature cocktails capable of enhancing the qualities of Gin Mare combined with six ingredients chosen by each bartender.

We therefore congratulate Carlotta Linzalata who will represent Italy at the world final of Gin Mare Mediterranean Inspirations 2018, scheduled from 2 to 5 September in Ibiza.

The cocktails that guaranteed Carlotta Linzalata victory were:

Mare Nostrum Cocktail: Utopia

• 25 ml Gin Mare
• 15 ml extra dry vermouth
• 50 ml savory cordial
• 15 ml salicornia syrup
• 22.5 ml lemon juice
• 2 olive dash bitters

Mediterranean Gin Tonic: Povron Tonic

• 50 ml Gin Mare
• 1 teaspoon homemade red pepper jam
• 2 dash bitters celery
• 180ml 1724 Tonic Water
