Friday 2 October, at the San Barbato Resort Spa&Golf in Lavello, in the province of Potenza, at the third edition of the Food and Travel Italia Awards, Dry Martini Sorrento was named Cocktail Bar of the year. The journey, started in May 2018 by the bar manager Lucio D'Orsi and his partner and owner Giulia Rossano, saw the achievement of the first recognition in the magazine's annual event, which has now become a fixed event for those working in the sector.

This is an award that I dedicate to hospitality, and not to the execution of the profession” said Lucio D'Orsi, who also holds the roles of maître and sommelier at the starred restaurant of the Majestic Palace Hotel, the Don Geppi Restaurant. “I also dedicate it to Giulia, my partner, because she is an essential part of the place. I believe that we won the award for the visual impact of our room, our hospitality, the presence of a high-quality cuisine, like that of chef Mario Affinita at Don Geppi, and last, but not least, our proposal. We have it on paper 198 cocktails in total, 100 of which are Dry Martini - we are the only ones to have such a wide selection - and, among the remaining proposals, an important novelty, the 8 cocktails of the DRYpedia project. DRYpedia is a mini 'encyclopedia' dedicated to mixing and the arts. We want to combine the two worlds and therefore we decided to start from literature and delve into a different field, quarter after quarter with 8 cocktails at a time: from music to dance, through sculpture, painting, architecture and theatre. DRYpedia cocktails are associated with characters and works of art. Some examples of those we now have on the menu are the Alessandro Baricco (in the photo) with Gin, Whisky, Blackberry Cream, Lime Juice, Blueberry Juice, Fresh Ginger, Droplets by Javier de las Muelas, Raspberries, Blackberries and Mint, and the Charles Baudelaire with Gin, Yellow Chartreuse, Galliano, Van Gogh Absinthe Droplets by Javier de las Muelas, Oak Smoke Droplets by Javier de las Muelas and Lemon Juice”.
