The old town of Casarano, in the province of Lecce, is home to a bar that calls back to the era of Futurism not only in its name (borrowed by a 1936 book) but also in the use of spirit labels that were popular at the time. In the 1940s-style lounges, owner and bar manager Alessio Conte proposes his idea of cocktail mixing. In the balanced, often-changing drink menu, signature cocktails come from research work that often starts in the kitchen, with homemade ingredients able to highlight elements that are often peculiar to the territory of Salento. Futurism is also the inspiration behind the choice of pairing each cocktail with a side dish, an idea that was born in those years aiming to broaden the drink’s “flavor landscape” – something that here is already quite ample. The added value for 1000 Misture is that every member of the staff – including those in the lounge – is a bartender and thus able to detect every client’s tastes and needs and, if needed, provide ad-hoc cocktail mixing. Alessio’s favorite cocktail? Ti’Punch.
