Drink osteria

Since 2014 there’s another good reason to reach the Old Town, the area reuniting the principal attraction of the medieval center of Verona. It’s the drink osteria by Raffaele Bellomi and Tommaso Gecchele, just a few minutes from Piazza delle Erbe. The interiors are just a few square meters, furnished with a vintage taste and a lot of wood, and with the expansive bar counter as a star. The exteriors are far larger, and people often enjoy their drinks while standing, as happens once stepped through the threshold. Head bartender Paolo Anfosso is in charge of cocktail mixing and, together with his team, creates a seasonal drink list that comes from revising the mixology classics through elaborate techniques and skillful use of spirits. The labels come from a frequently changing bottle rack and range from whisky and rum to mezcal, tequila, and vermouth – the latter ever-present in signatures like the flavored Americano or Negroni. There’s never a lack of contemporary and long-standing classics and some more refined creations, with rarer bases, on the menu.
