Japan in Milan
A visionary project stands a few meters from Milan’s Chinatown district, catapulting the mind into last century’s ‘70-’90 Japan. House of Ronin is an idea of the Salva Tu Alma group led by Guillaume Desforges and by brothers Jacopo and Leonardo Signani, spread on four floors and with beverage manager Riccardo Speranza in charge of the drink offer. Piccolo Ronin’s izakaya is on the ground floor, a place to enjoy twists on classics revised in an Eastern key. Elegant Robata restaurant on the first floor puts the same spin on drinks, also proposed in pairing with haute cuisine dishes. On the second floor, Madame Cheng bar offers a vertical mixing focused on spirits and fermentations from the countries touched by the former Chinese pirate. An example? There are baiju, aguamori, shochu, and of course, sake – present on every floor with over 60 different labels – and kombucha, fermentations, Eastern spices, and preparations that use production scraps from signatures. The third and final floor hosts Arcade, a place reserved for events and card-carrying members, with European spirits and Japanese spices taking center stage.
