Description

Between Villa Borghese and Castel Sant'Angelo, just steps from the square home to Rome's oldest obelisk: Piazza del Popolo. This is where the Hotel De Russie, a five-star luxury property from the Rocco Forte Hotels chain, is located, home to this historic landmark. Bar manager Dario Arienzo serves a mixology style, overseen by Salvatore Calabrese, that draws heavily—and inevitably—on classics, yet also demonstrates a contemporary flair. In the exclusive private terrace located at the foot of the hotel's Secret Garden and in the elegant interiors, guests come to order an aperitivo, a ritual celebrated here with classic and revisited cocktails, or signature drinks, including non-alcoholic ones, during dinner and after-dinner drinks. A recurring theme for Dario—supported here by head bartender Agostino Musichini and bartenders Barbara Simmi, Antony Felici, Mauro Sammarco, Michele Del Prete, Gregorio Nicastro, Anna Ciambella, and Daniele De Fazio—is the use of seasonal ingredients, such as watermelon juice in the summer or strawberry grapes in the fall. There's also a section dedicated to gin, featuring a limited menu of more or less niche labels.
