Rum Don Papa, the premium small batch Rum, has unveiled its first global campaign. Captured by the famous photographer and film-maker Yuval Hen, the 13 shots tell a surreal and wonderful scenario of snow and ice, which cover the tropical island Negros, locally known as Sugarlandia, where the House of the Brand is located, in the Philippine archipelago. The campaign, entitled “It only happened once” reveals a breathtaking studio created by Emma Winter Studio (Rankin, Vogue), in which the models are made up and dressed by the creative director and stylist Ann Shore (Italian Vogue, FT), the gastronomic studio is edited by Udo Reichelt-Schaurer e the four new Don Papa Winter Cocktails were created by Natalie Garforth. Inspired by the mysticism, eccentricity and extraordinary stories that come from the brand's spiritual home, the campaign features inexplicable scenes in which Sugarlandia appears frozen and wintry – a tribute to the reputation of an island that is known as “a place where they can strange but wonderful things happen.”
The cocktails, placed in these frozen tropical scenarios, are four unique twists on the great winter classics.
A twist on a classic, re imagined by The Don. The nutmeg falls like snow on the frothy surface of the drink. Curiously sweet, unexpectedly magical. It will be featured in the social campaign Walter Gosso, Advocacy Manager Rinaldi 1957 and Brand Ambassador Don Papa.
Pour 45 ml of Don Papa 7 years, 5 ml of Overproof Rum, 20 ml of sugar cane syrup, 15 ml of cream, 135 ml of hazelnut cream and freeze. Remove from the freezer 10 minutes before serving. Shake to "awaken" the drink, pour into the cup with the zabaglione on the surface. Decorate with grated nutmeg and a colored paper straw. Mulling over Sugarlandia
The beating heart of Sugarlandia in winter. Spicy, slightly acidic and wonderfully red. Warmed by the warm aromas of cinnamon. It will be featured in the social campaign Ilaria Bello, Brand Ambassadors Rinaldi 1957.
Pour 30 ml of Don Papa 7 years, 20 ml of lemon juice, 15 ml of sugar cane syrup, 20 ml of Mulled Wine and 20 ml of fresh egg white into a shaker, then shake without ice. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a highball glass. Fire the cinnamon powder by dropping it on the drink, together with a sprig of rosemary.
The winter Daiquiri with Don Papa. Tropical, fresh and festive. Here, where orchids bloom. It will be featured in the social campaign Walter Gosso, Advocacy Manager Rinaldi 1957 and Brand Ambassador Don Papa.
Pour 50 ml of Don Papa 7 years, 25 ml of lime juice, 20 ml of spiced sugar syrup into a shaker. Add ice and shake vigorously. Strain into a chilled glass, then garnish with a Christmas sugar straw and an orchid flower.
The Don's Midwinter Dream
An Old Fashioned with warm and delicious tones. Suitable for a languid night spent in front of a lit fireplace. Don't forget the cherries. It will be featured in the social campaign Marco Riccetti, Brand Ambassador Rinaldi 1957.
In a mixing glass, pour 50 ml of Don Papa Rum, 20 ml of Grenadine, 1 dash of Ginger Bitter and mix. Strain into a chilled glass with a single large ice cube.
Heat 5-10 ml of Overproof Rum, heat it, and gently pour it over the cocktail. Decorate with a couple of Maraschino cherries.
