[:it]Casa Gancia celebrates its 170th anniversary, with a sparkling wine aged for 170 months[:]

Casa Gancia, producer of the first Italian sparkling wine and white vermouth, proudly announces its 170th anniversary. Founded in 1850 by Carlo Gancia, the company is one of the largest producers of sparkling wines, prosecco and vermouth in the world. Gancia is a symbol of “Made in Italy” and is distributed in more than 65 countries.

Gancia sparkling wines come from the areas of Langhe-Roero and Monferrato, some of the most appreciated wine-growing areas in the world, registered in the UNESCO World Heritage List. Gancia sparkling wines are aged in the so-called cellars dug into the limestone tuff of Canelli centuries ago “Underground Cathedrals”. The cellars provide natural thermal insulation with a constant temperature of 12-14 degrees, ideal for the refinement of sparkling wines.

In 2020, Gancia increased global sales volume by more than 30%. In Russia, one of its key markets, Gancia became the fastest growing brand in the Italian sparkling wine category in early 2020. Gancia Asti and Gancia Prosecco grew by 51.7% and 125% respectively over the same period compared to last year, in most important Russian retailer chains.

To honor the anniversary, Gancia launches a unique sparkling wine aged for 170 months, the Cuvée 170 Mesi Riserva Alta Langa DOC 2005 Metodo Classico Brut, in a special edition bottle and an iconic gift box. Furthermore, Gancia is producing Limited Editions gift packs for Gancia Asti and Gancia Prosecco. Alongside the celebratory packaging there will be a series of online and offline events for consumers and influencers to celebrate the 170th anniversary with Gancia around the world.

The Ministry of Economic Development and Poste Italiane contributed to making this anniversary even more important by dedicating to F.lli Gancia & CSpA the issue of a ordinary stamp belonging to the thematic series "The Excellences of the productive and economic system", a recognition already granted to illustrious Italian companies including Fiat, Ferrero, Lavazza and which contributes to strengthening the prestige of a historic company among the most important in the national and international wine scene.

The stamp, printed by the Istituto Poligrafico e Zecca dello Stato SpA in four hundred thousand copies, reproduces a vintage poster of the F.lli Gancia & CSpA from 1922 called “Donna Farfalla”, created by the illustrator and painter Leonetto Cappiello. The stamp is completed by the legends “GANCIA” and “FROM 1850 170 YEARS OF SPUMANTE”, the writing “ITALIA” and the tariff indication “B”.
